Hi, so here's my story. You should probably skip the next couple paragraphs if you are in a hurry. Besides being an on/off-again lifetime Wilson resident with a slow Southern drawl, I'm a bit anal and long-winded, an occupational hazard, but I will gift you the short version.
After returning to Wilson in 2008, from spending six years in Nashville and having lived in my mom's vacant house and benefiting from an extended house-sitting offer by a dear and most generous friend, bought this Solitaire mobile home in late 2020 with a vision to make it my home.
Starting from before scratch, I had to have an abandoned dilapidated trailer removed left by the former lot-rental tenant. Here are the bullet points in the process:
- Clear the land, bring in underground utilities and pour a slab w/ generous footings, expansive rebar and hefty anchors. Check
- Deliver home and setup. Solitaire performed. Check
- Build 18' x 24' sun room addition. Check
- Build 18' x 24' front porch. Check
- Brick under-skirting with three cascading brick stairways. Check
- Pour 3/4-wraparound 6" concrete patio & sidewalk. Check
- Build custom brick mailbox w/ two planters. Check
- Purchase* 12' x 24' frame studio. Check
- Build 14' x 24' wooden carport w/ 6" x 6" x 10' wooden beams, 2" x 6" x 16' joists on 16" centers with 26 ga colored sheet metal roof. Check
- Lay 4' x 35' brick pavers w/ 14' x 24' brick paver driveway with 6' x 14' paver/concrete apron. Check
I so thoroughly enjoyed the experience and after freeing myself from a previous business commitment, have concluded I would love to help someone else create their dream.
I have built solid relationships with both my own contractors and others during the last four years. Recently, I formed a loosely bound business structure which I believe is akin to a general contractor but never would I ever aspire to such a lofty title.
However, collectively we would thoroughly enjoy helping you pursue your own space(s). These guys love their work and always appreciate any opportunity to work any way they can, whether it is installing window replacements or simply a thorough scraping/caulking and hand-rolled house painting to ensure another ten years of weather-resistant protection.
* Pressed for time, I purchased but paid ~$3k more than I could have had built by my own team. Darn.
